Sponsored projects should match student interest and backgrounds. These projects need to have clearly defined requirements, reasonable expectations and needs to be feasible to create in a 10 – 12 week time span.

Academic Expectations
Professionalism
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and appropriate manner.
Academic Integrity
Students are to adhere to NJIT Academic Integrity Policy and adhere to ethical standards.
Confidentiality
All confidential information provided by the sponsor will be respected and students are to sign NDAs if necessary.
Adherence to Deadlines
Projects should be completed within the agreed-upon timeframe, with all milestones and deliverables submitted on time.
High Standards
Students should meet the academic standards. With there projects containing rigorous research, critical thinking, and technical skill.
Onboarding Process
Sponsors are given training and are expected to attend an open house where they will be instructed on Capstone procedures.

Involvement
Technology Research
NJIT offers many facilities to help develop technological research in many forms from software development to robotics. YWCC provides students access to NJIT’s Makerspace and Virtual Reality labs to develop their projects to the next level.
Research and Development
The Capstone project allows students to be part of ground breaking research and development. Their work within the course can be the catalyst to new technologies that can build into larger projects beyond graduation. The next new innovative technology can start with this capstone.
Future Talent
The innovators of tomorrow are the students of today. Through the capstone, students are applying skills they have developed throughout their college journey to apply to real world problems. They bring their new innovative thinking to the forefront of this capstone to discover, invent, and revolutionize the technology of tomorrow.
Legal Obligations
All sponsors must sign our capstone sponsor agreement. Additionally, all students must sign an NDA that provides protection to sponsor projects.
